MyWhoosh Goes Multi-Sport: Adds Rowing, Upgraded Running Functionality

MyWhoosh, the only free-to-use virtual training platform, has launched its latest version - the 5.6 update - delivering a major platform milestone with the introduction of Rowing Mode. The update marks MyWhoosh’s expansion beyond cycling and running and represents the first phase of its long-term multi-sport strategy.

Rowing Mode launches as an free-to-use rowing experience, allowing athletes to explore indoor rowing within the MyWhoosh ecosystem for the first time. Users can row freely within MyWhoosh’s first dedicated rowing world based on Lake Bled, experiencing the same immersive virtual environments currently offered for cycling and running.

This initial release phase establishes the foundation for rowing on MyWhoosh. Future phases will introduce structured rowing workouts, competitive racing formats, and advanced performance metrics, further expanding training and competition opportunities for the global rowing community.

At launch, MyWhoosh 5.6 will support Concept2 rowers, ensuring trusted data accuracy and a familiar setup for experienced indoor rowers. Support for additional rowing hardware models is planned for upcoming releases.

“The introduction of Rowing Mode is a major step in our long-term vision for MyWhoosh,” said Matt Smithson, Director of Esports & Game Operations at MyWhoosh. “Our goal is to remove barriers between disciplines and give athletes one platform where they can train seriously, whether they’re cyclists, runners, or now rowers. This is about building a truly multi-sport ecosystem, not just adding features.”

Version 5.6 also delivers a major change for runners with the launch of the Custom Workout Builder for running. The new tool enables athletes to design structured, interval-based running workouts aligned to personal goals, pacing strategies, and intensity targets.

5.6 running updates include::

  • Clear interval-based workout creation

  • Improved in-game visualisation of workout structure

This update will enable runners using MyWhoosh to move beyond generic sessions and take ownership of their training; whether preparing for competition, improving endurance, or following personalised programs.
