2009 Team Launch Eastbourne
Wild Side 707 is coming!!!

The Wild Side 707 racing team gathered in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday morning and prepared for a ride where the temperatures outside were -5 degrees. John Green was on hand to drive the team's support car and the team gathered in last years blue strip. Chris McNamara was present in another team strip this year, and we all wish him well with Corley Cycles.

The 2009 team line up L to R: Mark Sussex, Roger Smith, Graeme Rose, Simon McNamara, James Makepeace, Ashley Holding, Jason Edwards, Matt Miles, Richard Smith and Gary Moore from Wild Side, and John Green.

The route went through Kent with some beautiful scenery in the hard frost after it had been -10 the previous night. The team continued to ride down to the coast at Hastings and then onto Eastbourne where we stayed at the Cavendish Hotel as usual. On Saturday night the team were issued with the new strip, leisure clothes and Giro Helmets. Cervelo frames have also been issued. Sunday morning saw the photos done which drew an impressive crowd on the beach.

Some quality riders from the 50's were taking a stroll on the sea front and were keen to look at the new bikes! The ride home went over Beachy Head on a sunny warmer Sunday morning and the riders enjoyed the long sweeping descent as photos were taken from the team car.

A new sponsor, 707 Resource management (www.707.co.uk) have joined forces with Wild Side RT this year and with the addition of Graeme, Matt and Roger looks to be a really positive year.

2008 End of Season Ride and Dinner
Sunday 23rd November 2008 saw the team collect in Royal Tunbridge Wells for a two hr ride all together and then a celebratory dinner with partners and new sponsors 707.

John Green, James Makepeace, Chris McNamara and Richard Smith with Trophies.

The weather on Sunday was terrible with Snow and cold rain. The ride was delayed for 90 mins while we plucked up the courage to go out. The team manager did express some dissatisfaction with the lack of mudguards of those that had travelled from the south coast!

42 miles was covered at an average of 20mph, which given the weather and some of the terrain around Tunbridge is good enough for this time of year.

The Spa hotel was a welcome site for showers and saunas. It was then to the bar to meet wives and girlfriends as well as current and new sponsors.

After lunch the annual trophy ceremony took place with Chris McNamara receiving the Road Man of the year and James Makepeace being somewhat flattered with Rider of Merit due to having had a bad crash and missing most of the year.

A summary of the year will be forthcoming, and we look forward to sharing news of the 2009 team launch in early January.

2009 Sponsors with the team equipment,

BMS Environmentals John Green
707 Resources Graeme Rose
707 Resources Matt Miles
Wild Side Richard Smith

The majority of the team then went to the Surrey League AGM, to celebrate Chris McNamara winning the league overall, the team being second overall and Jason Edwards and AShley Holding being second and third respectively in the Dunsfold series. A very good year!

Announcement for 2009 - WILD SIDE 707 RT
We are delighted to announce that '707' resource management will be the new co- sponsor of the 2009 team.

As such we have a new team name - WILD SIDE 707 ROAD TEAM

We also have two new riders ! Mathew Miles and Graeme Rose own '707' and are both passionate cyclists and are looking forward to being fully part of the team.

On their website you'll find a little piece about each of them. They have both been attracted to the team (as riders and sponsors) because of the reputation we have built for ourselves over the last few seasons.

Jason Edwards wins Ottershaw series round 2!

In awful weather this Sunday 26th October Jason made the break of six in the second round of the popular end of season Surrey League series.

It was an attacking race and the break formed with 6 laps to go of the 16 lap race. The weeks previous winner Steve Golla (Sigma Sport) with the 2nd and 3rd places present and so Jason knew he had to go with the move. THe group worked well together until the final 200m, which worked perfectly for Jason, who won the sprint.

This was his 4th win of the season. Well done.

Surrey League Revolutions 5 Day
In August 2008 the Wild Side team rode the Surrey League 5 Day in defence of Chris' victory last year.

Chris, Simon, Jaco and Mark were entered, as were the Halfords Bike Hut team of Rob Hayles and Tom Southam, using the opportunity to prepare for the Tour of Britain. Sigma Sport and Corley cycles had strong teams, as did a Ras Muhman team from Ireland.

Dunsfold Series 2008
Jason Edwards in one of his many sprints this year at Dunsfold

The Wild Side team all enjoyed the regular Tuesday night racing organised by the Surrey Racing League. This year the intention was to attack the racing on a weekly basis and try to win individual races, rather than aim for the overall competition. This philosophy led to 12 top 3 finishes out of the 16 rounds, 5 wins, 6 second places and 3 third places. In the overall competition Wildside Riders were 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th.

******************HAT TRICK******************
On Tuesday 8th July Jason Edwards won at the Surrey League Dunsfold circuit race series for the third week in succession. Results available at http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/index.htm

The previous week Jason had won the race in a bunch sprint keenly led out by his team mates of manager Ashley Holding, Mark Sussex and the McNamaras. This week Holding and Edwards snuck into a break of seven, mopping up prime points on each lap and professionally organising themselves to ensure they got the race win, with Ashley achieving 3rd.

Three wins in three weeks at this venue is very impressive and only helps the secondary objective of the overall competition.

Chris Wins Toachim House GP

On 6th July Chris and Simon Mac, Mark Sussex, Jason Edwards and Mark Daly lined up for the hilly 80 mile Toachim House GP in Kent.

The weather was very poor for the first time in a while with gale force winds and persistant rain for most of the race. The race was 4 large laps of a 13/14 mile circuit and then on to a finishing hill smaller circuit.

A few breaks went on the first lap before Chris got in a move of nine riders and the gap eventually opened to a couple of minutes with Simon in a chase group behind.

The roads were up and down all the way and people were saying the climb on the finishing circuit was going to be savage, Chris said afterwards it wasn't all that bad (!) and after checking peoples legs out first time up Chris attacked full on 2nd time round and had 30 seconds at the top.

Chris kept it rolling as hard as he could round the back of the circuit and murdered himself up the climb to the finish for his 2nd win on the trot, netting himself £1'000 in prize money!

Simon rode really well for 7th with all our other riders finishing well up, Mark Daly was 16th. Another great day out for Wild Side.
