Managed to win a few races each year.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS : International Vuelta Al Bidaso,Spain 1984. After 2 nd and 3 rd places on previous stages I’m third overall and in the points jersey
as I sit on the start ramp for stage 5, the time trial stage - complete with lead car, two police bikes, commissaire bike , T.V.bike and our dutch director sportif in the following car. I came last – and people ask why I hate time trialing.
At home – Winning the Guildford Crit was nice. Big crowd, I lived there and my family were watching.
CYCLING ASPIRATIONS : Would like to think there is one more Belgium kermesse left in me, but think I’ll perhaps ride a couple of LVRC races and make a graceful last retirement. Want to see the team do well now!
CYCLING INSPIRATIONS : First time around it was Freddy Maertens, still is really but I also like Tom Boonen.
A PROPER RACE : Tour of Flanders / Paris- Roubaix
LIFE AFTER CYCLING : Dan & Micky ( my children), My Ducati 749 and Moto GP, skiing and Jackie my wife - that’s about that order too!
