Dear Mr.Downing,
I am currently studying at Edinburgh University for an Masters degree in Strength and Conditioning, and about to start my own research project (dissertation) over the Easter/summer months. I compete in triathlons (hoping to qualify for the worlds in Australia this year) but want to base my research around professional cycling.
Currently I'm exploring the effect of Caffeine or Caffeine+Carbohydrates on endurance road cycling. However, from your point of view is there any un-answered questions in your training or competition that you feel need to be researched in more depth. Or is there anything you feel needs to be tested (supplements/training methods) before you try it out, which may give professional cyclists like your self a competitive edge.
I appreciate you are a busy man, but any feedback would be of great interest.

What can I say. I have always thought you deserved a much bigger stage than your career as led you on so far. And this was it!
Glued to the screen the whole week but Sunday-well-wow.
I have watched a lot of races but this was one of the most inspiring rides I have ever seen!!
Theres solo efforts and big climb efforts but to ride like ya did on such a tough circuit with so many big names and big teams, you were awesome.
Great strength, never say die, determination and true Yorkshire grit.
Well done and enjoy the moment
