Hi and welcome to my website.
I hope that you enjoy browsing around my website and learning a little bit more about me. I will keep my website up to date with regular diary entries and photo galleries throughout 2008.
2008 is my first year with Britain’s first professional women’s team – Team Swift Racing. The team has been established since 2005 and continues to grow, this year securing a five year contract with Swift Motor-homes. Follow me this year as I attempt to come back from two years plagued with injury and sickness.
In 2005 I was involved in a hit and run accident. After a fantastic break through year on the road with the Belgian based Vlaanderen team I was riding to the Manchester velodrome on 10th October when a car turned in to the cycle lane and then drove off and left me with a broken back. In 2006, six months and 6 days after the accident I raced to a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games, proving to be a true ‘wonder woman’ (Manchester Evening News March 2006).
In 2007 I suffered from a deep vein thrombosis caused by the contraceptive pill and had to take 6 months of from the sport I love. Whilst recovering I started commentating and now regularly sit besides David Harmon and Sean Kelly in the commentating booth at Eurosport.
Follow my year here on my website or check out my team website on www.teamswiftracing.co.uk or check out my business enterprise at www.cobbledclassics.com.
See you again soon,
Emma x
